Wilson has provided comprehensive photo coverage of the State Theatre
Center for the Arts FREDDY© Awards since its inception in 2003. In 2006, Wilson was designated as
Photography Coordinator. Working with friend and colleague Tom Kosa, plus other selected
photographers, well over 15,000 images have been created to date.
To commemorate the FREDDY© Awards fifth anniversary in 2007, the State
Theater selected a number of photographs to be featured in their first ever exhibit in the
Gallery. In addition to the Gallery exhibit, Wilson and Tom appeared on television as presenters
at the 2007 FREDDY© Awards, which was broadcast locally on Channel 69 and worldwide via the
internet.
An even-better collection of images was exhibited in the Gallery in
2008, featuring larger format, high visual impact prints. 2008 also marked the third year Wilson
has presented the Wilson Black Photography Technical Scholarship. This cash award goes to a
highly qualified student who is pursuing a career in Technical Theater.
